Tailored to your needs and delivered by a past winner of the UK Business Speaker of the Year Competition.
In-house presentation skills training for UK organisations
Rich Watts is a national public speaking champion, a past winner of the UK Business Speaker of the Year award and one of the most experienced presentation skills trainers working in the UK today.
This fully tailored, full-day training programme gives your people the practical skills and the confidence to plan, structure and deliver presentations that are clear, focused and genuinely engaging.
Every session is built around your organisation from the ground up, and every participant leaves with a personalised action plan and individual follow-up coaching from Rich in the weeks afterwards.

WHY THIS TRAINING EXISTS
Most people were never taught how to present. They were simply expected to get on with it.
Promotion tends to bring more presenting, not less. Managers who struggled through presentations as individual contributors find themselves pitching to the board, communicating change to their teams, representing their department in cross-functional meetings and leading client conversations — often before anyone has given them so much as a framework for structuring what they want to say.
The consequences are predictable: wasted opportunities, unnecessary nerves and presentations that fail to land the way they should. It is a gap that is surprisingly easy to close once someone actually addresses it properly. That is what this training is for.

By the end of the day, every participant will have the knowledge, the frameworks and the practical experience to apply these skills in their own presenting situations straight away.
- Identify a clear, audience-focused key message for any presentation and define exactly what they want the audience to think, feel and do as a result of hearing it
- Open their presentations with confidence and in a way that immediately captures the audience's attention
- Structure their content for clarity, understanding and recall, using signposting, transition phrases and effective agendas to guide the audience throughout
- Deliver powerful conclusions that reinforce the key message and drive the action they are looking for
- Deliver with confidence, presence and genuine engagement regardless of the size or seniority of the audience
- Manage nerves effectively and channel them productively rather than letting them get in the way
- Use visual aids and supporting materials in a way that enhances rather than replaces the message

“We saw the benefits instantly, from presenting at our conferences, in workshops and during meetings with clients. You made the session very enjoyable and removed any tension.”

THE PROGRAMME
A full day of practical, expert-led training — here is what it covers
The foundation presentation skills training day runs for approximately six hours and is structured as a progressive learning journey, with each module building on the last. The emphasis throughout is on doing, not watching: participants are on their feet and presenting from early in the day.

1. Finding your key message
Participants learn how to identify a single, clear, audience-focused message for any presentation and how to define precisely what they want the audience to think, feel and do as a result. This focus keeps every presentation concise, purposeful and outcome-driven.
2. Attention-grabbing openings
The opening of a presentation determines whether the audience leans in or switches off. This module covers a range of techniques for beginning with impact, building immediate credibility and setting the right tone from the very first moment.

3. Structure for clarity and recall
Participants learn how to structure their content so that it is easy to follow, easy to remember and easy to act on. This includes the effective use of agendas, signposting and transition phrases to guide the audience through the presentation from beginning to end.
4. Powerful conclusions
A strong conclusion is where the real work of a presentation gets done. This module covers how to bring a presentation to a close in a way that reinforces the key message, aids audience recall and drives the specific action the presenter is looking for.

5. Confident, engaging delivery
Covering voice, pace, eye contact, body language, the use of notes and how to manage nerves effectively, this module gives participants the practical tools to deliver with genuine confidence and presence whatever the size or seniority of their audience.
6. Live presentation scenario (filmed)
The day finishes with every participant delivering their own pre-prepared presentation in a live scenario, which is filmed for review. This is where everything comes together. Participants leave with the experience of having applied all of the day's techniques in a real presenting context, supported by expert feedback from Rich throughout.

AFTER THE TRAINING
The support does not stop when the day ends
Learning a new skill in a training room and successfully applying it back at your desk are two different challenges. Every participant on the Further Foundation Presentation Skills programme leaves with a personalised action plan developed during the day, and then receives their own tailored presentation analysis, detailed written feedback and one-to-one coaching support from Rich in the weeks that follow.
This follow-up is what turns a good training day into a lasting change in how your people present. It is included as standard in every programme we deliver, because we think anything less would be selling the training short.
OUR PROCESS
How the training is built around your organisation
Research first
Before any training content is written, we invest time in understanding your organisation properly. Through surveys, interviews and conversations with you and your team, we build a full picture of the current challenges, confidence levels and presenting contexts your people encounter. This research phase is what makes the training genuinely relevant rather than generically applicable.
Tailored design
Using everything we have learnt, we design a training day built around your people and the specific situations they present in. Every example, every exercise and every piece of feedback is relevant to your organisation and your sector. Two sessions delivered by Further are never identical, because every organisation is different.
Expert delivery
Rich delivers the training in person or online, depending on what works best for your team. Sessions are practical, energetic and grounded in real application throughout the day.
IS THIS TRAINING RIGHT FOR YOUR TEAM?
This training works particularly well when...
Further's foundation presentation skills training is a strong fit for organisations where one or more of the following is true.
- Your managers are presenting more than ever but have never had any formal training in how to do it well.
- People in your team are technically brilliant but struggle to communicate complex ideas in a way that is clear, structured and engaging.
- Confidence is the issue — your people know their subject matter but nerves get in the way when they stand up to present.
- You have a high-stakes event on the horizon and you want your people to be properly prepared for it.
- Presentations in your organisation are consistently too long, too dense or too data-heavy and are failing to land with their intended audiences.
- You want to build a culture where people communicate with real confidence and purpose at every level of the business.
